"For once you have tasted flight you will walk the Earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return."
- Leonardo Da Vinci
I vividly remember that boy that flew for the first time as a passenger on a commercial airplane when he was 12 years old. After getting off the plane, terrified because of an incredibly bumpy flight, he decided that he wanted to be a Pilot. That day, his passion for Aviation was born.
Fast forward 35 years to today… Here I am. Name is Luis Sales. Family Man, IT Guy, Technology Geek, Aviation Lover and Photographer. Currently living with my family in Pembroke Pines, beautiful Florida.
That's me. The guy behind CubanEight.
I always liked taking pictures but when my wife gifted me my first DSLR, a Nikon D7000, some 4 or 5 years ago, that’s when I really got the “fever” and started discovering, all over again, the World around me, this time with new eyes, thru my camera’s viewfinder, learning to see.
Anything around us, anything, can be a source of inspiration for Photography and, without any doubt, one of the most exciting and challenging subjects there is, up there, on the Top 10, is Aviation. That’s why it was only natural that, considering my never-ending love for Airplanes and anything related to them, it would be the first subject for me to try and learn how to shoot it.

I’ve learned much over the years and still keep learning. That’s one of the many great things about Photography: You never stop learning. I compare the pictures I take now with the ones I took at the beginning, several years ago, and I can say that I’ve learned a thing or two. Can’t wait to see what I’ll learn in the years to come!
Every time I have the chance to combine these two passions of mine, it’s just pure joy. The challenge of capturing that “perfect” shot and the excitement of watching these beautiful machines fly, makes this a very unique, wonderful and very rewarding experience for me.
Photographer in action, at MIA. Thanks to my wife for capturing this shot on her cellphone.
I hope you enjoy my Aviation Photography as much as I enjoy taking these shots.
By the way, I also shoot other “Non-Aviation” Subjects. If you want to check some of those pictures, jump to my Portfolio.
Thanks for visiting!
